Orval Lee Henderson Orval Lee Henderson, 78, passed from this life on January 19, 2013.

Orval was born on September 9, 1934, to Duncan and Edith (Smith). He was the sixth of nine children. Their home was in Win-terset, Iowa, where they farmed until relocating to their farm near Dumont, Iowa. Orval had many fond memories of his childhood home, in Winterset, particularly, sliding down the long sloping hills in the winter on make shift sleds. Orval graduated from Dumont high school.

He met his future wife when she rode to the farm on horseback, delivering dinner to her family members. As was common then, neighbors assisted each other during the harvesting season. Upon seeing Beverly Hudson, he said to himself, I am going to marry her someday. Less than two years passed when they married. He spent their marriage as in love with his bride as he was that first moment.

The couple farmed in Dougherty, then Nora Springs, settling in Rudd, where they purchased a small farm. Orval also worked at Armour, until retirement in 1996.
