Highway 20 roadsides get new look CEDAR FALLS (AP) Feazell Highway 20 roadsides in Black Hawk County are getting a new look. The lowa Department of Transportation and the University of Northern Iowa's Native Roadside Vegetation Center will plant native lowa prairie flowers and grasses along the highway this summer, from the Crossroads Center interchange to the Grundy County line. "The project is called a landscaping project. It's mostly a re-vegetation project," said George Feazell, a resident construction engineer with the DOT.

"We're taking out the original grasses," planted when the road was built in the early 1980s. said the grass being removed is not native to lowa or, in some cases, even North America. "They worked well, but a lot of times they were high-maintenance-type grasses, and some of them struggled in dry years and allowed for infestation of noxious Feazell said.
