A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008, at the Nora Springs Christian Church, 102 N. Hawkeye in Nora Springs. Burial will be at Rock Grove Fingalsen Cemetery, in Nora enjoyed playing card games and he loved to gamble.

He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends, or just being around people. Gary loved a good joke, practical or otherwise. Gary is survived by his wife, Lois Fingalsen, of Rock Falls; his children, Randy (Linda) Fingalsen, of Downingtown, Craig (Cathy) Fingalsen, of Rock Falls, Todd (Susan) Fingalsen, of Nora Springs, Melissa (Mark) Johnson, of Grinnell, Rob (Monica) Klinke, of Oak Park, his grandchildren, Jim (Livia) Lyver, Megan Lyver, Sean Lyver, all from Downingtown, Keely Fingalsen, of Rock Falls, Mitchell and Maxwell Fingalsen, of Nora Springs, Tyler and Jackie Johnson, of Grinnell, and Liz and R.J. Klinke, of Oak Park, his sister, Sandra (Gordon) Jackson, of Mesquite, his brother, Chuck (Pat) Fingalsen, of Ruthven; his nieces and nephews, Barb (Jim) Lemons, Bob Jackson, Brett (Kate) Jackson, Dave (Dawn) Fingalsen, and Cindy (Tom) Johnson; his uncle, Allan (Bettie) Fingalsen; and his special dog, Buddy. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Gary's Hospice nurse, Renee.

Gary was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Mason City, the son of Virgil and Cleo (Myers) Fingalsen. He graduated from Nora Springs High School in 1953, and then enlisted in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany. Gary married Lois (Mattson) on Dec. 25, 1982 in Des Moines.

When he was younger, Gary farmed with his father, then he worked for many years as a semi truck driver and retired with Roadway Express. Gary also owned the Rock Falls Lounge for 20 years. In his spare time he enjoyed playing card games Gregory James Powell BOULDER, Colo. gory James Powell, 55, Boulder, passed away 18, 2007, in Puerto Greof July Adven- turas, Mexico. He was born Oct.

15, 1952, in Iowa City to Dr. Robert and Mary (Kling) Powell. In 1971, Powell Greg graduated from Powell Mason City High School and received his B.A. in 1976 from the University of Iowa. He continued his education, and in 1977 earned a M.A.

from Central Missouri State University and an MBA from University of Colorado in 1985. He is survived by his son, Ben, 22, and daughter, Megan, 19, both of Boulder, his parents, Robert and Mary; brothers, Jeff and Randy; sister, Anne; nieces, Claire and Alana; and nephews, Kai and Sam, and ex-wife, Marga. Greg was a very loving father who was proud of and devoted to his son and daughter. He was always supportive of his children and their interests, especially enjoying their soccer games, rarely missing a game throughout the years. He also coached YMCA Soccer for both his children's teams.

Not only was he giving to his children, but he was also a volunteer in his community for organizations such as Meals on Wheels and the American Heart Association. Greg developed Type 1 Diabetes at the age of five and had become an active participant in research studies at the Barbara Davis Center (for Diabetes) in Denver. Greg worked as a financial and business manager for various Boulder businesses since 1985, including the City of Boulder Housing Authority, University of Colorado and most recently for a private surgeon's office at the Boulder Medical Pavilion. Greg loved the outdoors, hiking, playing racquetball, classic rock music, concerts, traveling, and artwork from local artists mainly photography an interest that he shared with his daughter. He was most happy when with his children and in the outdoors.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at the Community United Church of Christ in Boulder, Colo. Donald Chesnut RUDD Donald Chesnut, 76, of Horatio, formerly of Rudd, died Thursday (July 24, 2008) at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m.

Monday, July 28 at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor La Vonne Kaasa, of the Floyd United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City. Military honors will be conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit. Roy was born on April 21, 1920, in Lake Mills, the son of Peter and Augusta (Fjone) Peterson. On May 30, 1947, he married La Vonne Mulert in Mason City.

Roy served in the capacity of Machinist Mate in the U.S. Navy on the USS Crescent City in World War II from 1942-45. Honorably discharged, he worked as a mechanic for Sedars Pontiac in Mason City. Roy was passionate about fishing with his brothers and friends, he loved to go to the Mississippi and watch the water run. Roy was the neighborhood mechanic and could often be found tinkering with vehicles or motors and creating inventions to solve household mechanical problems.

Roy also loved to travel to Arizona and visit his sister. Roy had a unique spirit and heart for children, he had a special way of making a child feel important and valued and was considered to be a favorite Uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was also a good neighbor and friend to all who knew him. Roy was a committed, devoted husband to his wife, La Vonne, whom he loved with his whole heart. He had a quick sense of humor and a positive attitude.

Roy amused his family with a library of "Royisms" and we know that he's "Finer than Frog Hair" now. He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Killian of Mesa, a brother- Vincent Mulert of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Telford, Addler, Donovan, and Phillip; and his wife, La Vonne, in 2001. Parish CEDAR RAPIDS Leona M. (King) Parish, 67, of 865 14th St. N.E., Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday (July 23, 2008) in the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a short illness. Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.

507-334-4481. John G. Salsbury John G. Salsbury was born in Western, Nebraska, on June 12, 1916. He received his Bachelor of Science degree at Iowa State University in 1938, and his Doctor Veterinary Medicine degree at ISU in 1940.

His father began Salsbury Laboratories in 1926, and after graduating, John joined the company, working in many departments over the years. In 1945 he became vice president and general manager of the firm, was named president in 1960, and in 1971 became chairman of the company when his eldest son, Doug, became president. He retired in November 1982. During his working years, John was also very involved in organizations beyond the lab. He was president of the American Poultry Historical Society and the Animal Health Institute, chairman of the American Egg Board, and director of the Iowa State University Foundation, the National Association of Manufacturers, the National Broiler Council, and the Southeastern Poultry and Egg Association.

He was a member of the World's Poultry Science Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Society of Parasitologists, the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, and the Poultry Science Association. He was also the president of the Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club in Charles City, Iowa, and was active in Boy Scouts of America, for which he received the Silver Beaver Award. After his retirement, he had time to pursue a favorite hobby and became a fine craftsman and miniaturist, building many dollhouses which his wife, Doris, decorated. His wife of 66 years is Doris J. Brunner-Salsbury.

They have five children: Douglas E. Salsbury of Whitehall, Craig B. Salsbury of Fairbanks, Alaska; Debra Feintech of Portland, Maine; Barbara J. Leduc of Omaha, and Rebecca A. Miller of Minneapolis, Minn.

Dr. Salsbury is a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Dillon, Mont. He and his wife live in Bozeman, Mont. A private memorial service has taken place at the James Episcopal Church St.

N.E., Mason City. All class members, spouses and friends are invited to attend. Roger William Carmody Roger William Carmody, 78, of Gravette, died Thursday (July 24, 2008) in Bella Vista, Ark. He was born of on Feb. 13, 1930, in Rock Falls, to John and Josephine Carmody.

He married Mabel Teepe Hines on Oct. 9, 1954, in Preston, Minn. He was a retired Carmody salesman. Mr. Carmody was a member of the Hiwasse 1st Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Joan Schroeder; his parents; four sisters; and four brothers. Survivors include his wife of 054 years, Mabel Carmody; a son, David Carmody and wife, LauraLynn, of West Union, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Janet Hilsman, of Bella Vista, a son-in-law, Dennis Schroeder of Pinedale, one sister, Rosella Mayo, of the Chicago, Ill. area; five grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2008, at the Hiwasse Baptist Church, Hiwasse, with Pastor Jim Daniel officiating.
