Lack of Judgment in Child to Be Replaced by Parental Authority By ALfCE JTJDSON PEALE Never were parents less sure of themselves than today.

Increased knowledge of children 'and swift cumulative changes in the '(environment have compelled them to reckon with factors of which their own elders were happily oblivious. Some parents have met the new situation by refusing to see it. They rely upon their authority. They hedge their children about with rules and prohibitions. They insist upon Obedience for obedience's sake Others, determined that their children shall profit by the errors of their own childhood, assert no authority at all.

Their children will have a harder row to hoe than those who are being subjected to the old cast iron meth are being given no oppor tunity to learn the self control, con for others and persever ance in the face of obstacles. LIVING AND By VIRGINIA LEE HEART HUNGRY; that phrase grips one, doesn't it? We may be visualizing a young man or woman who cannot make friends or attract overs. It may be a child who for ome reason lacks the love of parents.

It may be older people who are bereft of their mates, or who have never had And it may be a man or who yearns to have Children to love and cherish and who can never have Very few people quite escape heart hunger at some time in theil ives. Sometimes it is necessary to accept the fact that the hunger never will be satisfied. Then it is we lave, for our own happiness-safety, even--to resort to what the psychologists call a "constructive jompromise." The following letter tells of one woman who is seeking relief from her heart hunger: VIRGINIA DEE: You have such a happy way of solving other people's troubles, so I'm bringing my problem to you. "Am a widow by death and have children. Have gone out some, but never without the children.

I do want to marry, and could and would make a wonderful home for a good man, a lonesome man like 'Troubled if he, in-return, would take an interest in my children. "It is terrible to be so lonesome for a companion of your own age. Life is hard at the best, but with a pal many of the hard places become easy. HEART HUNGRY." I know just how you must feel, Heart Hungry, and see nothing wrong or unusual in the fact that you want to marry If you have had some attention from men since your husband died, as you imply, it may be these other widows are a little envious, as they, too, may be heart hungry. Try to think that and you won't feel so unkindly toward them if they make slurring remarks. At the same time, ignore nny such remarks that you may hear have been ntade. Accept any invitations you receive and you probably will find a new mate. I hope if you do that you will not be disappointed, as it is a pretty hard thing for a man to marry a ready-made family and be an ideal father.
